Giovanni Antonio Canal (Venice, 7 October 1697 – Venice, 19 April 1768), better known as Canaletto, is a painter venitian famous for its panoramas (vedute) from Venice.

It is considered, along with Bernardo Bellotto and Francesco Guardi, as the most significant representative of the " vedutism "Italian (or cityscape painting).
