Six hidden gems of Venice

Venice is full of hidden gems, but here are seven places worth checking out:

1. La Scala Contarini del Bovolo – This spiral tower sits next to Palazzo Contarini. It offers breathtaking views of Venice and is considered one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in the city.

2. Campo San Giovanni e Paolo – This picturesque square is located in the Castello district. It is home to the famous San Giovanni e Paolo church, as well as many other historic buildings.
3. La Fondamenta Zattere al Ponte Longo – This walk along the Giudecca Canal offers breathtaking views of Venice and the neighboring islands. It is an ideal place for a peaceful walk away from the crowds.
4. Campo Santa Maria Formosa – This bustling square is located in the Castello district. It is home to a church of the same name as well as historic buildings and numerous bars and restaurants.
5. La Chiesa di San Giorgio dei Greci – This Greek Orthodox church is located in the Castello district. It is decorated with magnificent frescoes and Orthodox icons.
6. La Scuola Grande di San Rocco – This 16th century school is located in the San Polo district. It houses magnificent works of art by Tintoretto, including a series of paintings that tell the story of Jesus and Mary.
